Why is assembly so tight and difficult?
Our products are laser-cut with high precision and use traditional mortise-and-tenon joints, making them fit very snugly. However, due to varying humidity levels in different countries, the wood may slightly expand or contract, making assembly feel tight. You can use small tools like a mini hammer or tweezers to assist – it’ll make the process much easier.
Why is it hard to remove the parts from the wooden boards?
To prevent parts from falling out during transportation, each piece is designed to remain attached to the board at 1–2 small connection points. You can gently push the pieces out using your fingers, a blunt tool, or a hobby knife. If the climate is dry, the parts may come off more easily.
What if a part breaks during assembly?
This is uncommon. The plywood is quite durable. If only the surface is chipped, it won’t affect the function. For truly broken pieces, you can repair them using strong glue. Most fragile parts come with backup replacements in case of breakage.
It's extremely difficult to insert the axle (toothpick) into the gear – is this normal?
Yes, it can be tight due to humidity differences. Here are a few tips:
1. Lightly sand the toothpick with sandpaper.
2. Gently tap the toothpick into the gear using a small hammer.
3. Insert the toothpick into the hole first, then push it in firmly.
4. Use a small hammer to slowly and evenly drive it in – avoid using excessive force all at once.
Why not use metal instead of wooden axles if they break so easily?
Wood has the ideal flexibility and rough texture for tight-fitting joints. Metal would require glue and lack the necessary grip. Plus, different axles serve different roles, lengths, and angles – wood is better suited for these varying purposes.
The finished model doesn’t run smoothly – what can I do?
Polishing is key. Use fine sandpaper to smooth gear contact points and connection areas, especially the raised parts. You can also apply wax or lubricant to improve performance.
There’s a smell when I open the package – is it toxic like formaldehyde?
No worries! The slight smell comes from the natural wood and glue. It’s completely safe and free of harmful substances like excessive formaldehyde.
The surface has scratches or slight color differences – is this a defect?
Not at all. These are natural features of the plywood and may result from differences in humidity and temperature during production or shipping. It’s normal and doesn’t affect product quality. Slight imperfections are not considered grounds for return.
